In May 2016 WD Hearn engineers installed the Renishaw OLP40 Lathe Touch Probe and the HSMPA high precision motorised arm on Superexcel's T-8XL, which WD Hearn commissioned and installed their in 2015.

OLP40 lathe touch probe is used for workpiece inspection and job set-up on lathes of all sizes and small multi-tasking machines. Features: Flexible probing solution, Reliable modulated and optical transmission, Outstanding performance for less scrap and higher profits.

HP arms and RP3 tool setting probes are used for tool measuring and broken tool detection on 2-axis and 3-axis CNC lathes. High-precision tool setting arms for lathes and grinding machines, RP3 is also suitable for OEM installation into purpose-built holders.
