Last week WD Hearn installed one of two Yushine machines into Transnet inCape Town. One for Transnet Salt River and then second machine is destined for Saldanah.
 
The machines have been on order for the past four months in a project directly resulting from the  the massive capital expansion by Transnet since 2012. 
 
The machines being delivered are Yushine VL1200ATC CNC Vertical Lathes, renoundfor their all-round rigidity, power and reliability. The machines will be used for theproduction of the wheel sets.
 
They boast 1600mm maximum swing, a spindlespeed of 2-300 rpm and up to a 55Kw spindle motor complete with Gear Box on the table and BT-50 spindle.
 
The installation went through without any glitches and WD Hearn service engineers are now preparing to install the second machine in April.
 
Last year in similar sized installations WD Hearn delivered a SANCOSBM2600Lto Salt River and a large Lexus Band Saw to Transnet Uitenhague. Two very large  16000mm Bridge Type SANCO SDM16040M machines will also be commissioned in 2013
to TRE Koesdoespoort for the production of the bogies.
