A Turning Center with its spindle in a horizontal position. This is the most common type of turning center configuration. The Horizontal Turning Centers are further divided into Slant Bed or Flat Bed (Teach Lathe Type), and the selection of machine is dependent on the type of material , length of part and quantities required. Slant Bed Lathes are the more popular configuration of machine for production shops, and flat beds lathes are often found in shops doing small quantities of low value shafts.
