Flat bed turning centers are designed for machining on relatively hard, heavy duty materials with large turning lengths. They were originally designed for the machining of metals, however, bacause of their natural versatility and the advent of plastics and other materials, are now used in a wide range of applications, on a broad range of materials. Flat Bed Turning Centers are generally considerably cheaper than their slant bed counterparts., especially when the workpiece length is over 1000mm in length. They are commmonly found with CNC systems with conversatinal programming such as Siemens (Shopturn) or Fagor.
